Actually it's a new translation of fragments of ancient papyrus recovered during the excavation of an Etruscan boxing and wrestling gymnasium.
I didn't even know they had speedos back then. How cool is that?

Yes but as can be seen from the ancient pottery the speedos were not worn in combat, it's thought the were used as head dress or a victory crown.
