Had a great match with Doc Holiday yesterday at the ring! Brought back lots of great wrestling memories.

I really had a great match with Shawn Doc Holiday yesterday, we wrestled years ago and he still looks exactly the same and is as tough as ever. I highly recommend him. Also the wrestling ring in Santa Ana is really awesome. Brought back memories seeing photos on the wall of Dick Remley and Bill Hughes, two great guys that I am honored to have known and wrestled when I first started wrestling, both men passed way too soon. I met Dick Remley at Slammer Wrestling Gym in the early 90's. I remember finding "Slammers Wrestling Gym" in the phone book and called and asked what it was, the man on the phone said "Why don't you come and find out?", being very intrigued I set up an appointed and went. Being a child of the 80's I was floored when I walked in and saw the Fabulous Moolah behind the desk. The man ho owned Slammers was a former pro wrestler, it was a school that taught pro wrestling. I grew up watching pro wrestling in the 80's and most of the time it was a turn on for me and meeting some of these wrestlers live and in person was amazing. I decided to enroll in the school, it was a class on Saturdays. One of the guys in the class was Dick Remley who was extremely nice to me, we were very close in size and his dream was to be a pro wrestler but because of his size he was not big enough for USA pro so he because a Lucha Libre wrestler and he owned his own wrestling ring and was always very generous about offering others to use it. While at slammers I learned a lot of wrestling safety which was helpful but I also learned that I liked aspects of pro wrestling but I really loved the realness of submission, I wanted to feel the man to man competition of wrestling and I loved the exercise. I also found that I did not like the strict rules of submission and mixing the body shots and verbal alpha male talk from pro was what I really loved. I remember meeting Bill Hughes from the Gillespie listings, which was a newsletter to meet guys to wrestle that you had to write letters to to set up an initial match. This was pre internet and boy that makes me feel old LOL! I remember getting a letter from Bill and we exchanged phone numbers. bill had the most amazing British accent and had a true love for wrestling, he was a former Pro wrestler. Bill invited me to wrestle him at his ring in Long Beach, CA. I recall it being a boxing ring in a bad part of town, Bill drove up in his Rolls Royce and treated me with a big smile and said "I hope my appearance doesn't scare you". Bill was a big man that had been pro wrestler from the golden age so he had cauliflower ears. I told him that I appreciated his kindness by inviting me to wrestle and his appearance was great. Over the years I wrestled many guys at Bill's ring, he was always very generous about allowing me to use it for wrestling matches. Some of the greatest guys I ever met was through wresting because there is a bond between men who love to wrestle.

Great stories. You should write your memories. Shawn is a bad ass. How did you do against him?

I'm sure you have a lot of good stories from your video wrestling career. Many guys on here who have been long time fans (like me) would appreciate anything u could relate about your matches, opponents and all facets of the business you have observed. I have been your fan since I first got a home PC in 2004 and found NHB Battle and BG East. Your videos and style knocked me out.
It's great to see you back on Meet even if you don't post videos of your latest matches.

Jason

Wow! Jason thank you very much for your kind words. I will make more Blogs about who I worked with and what I saw. I am just trying to keep from writing about the negative.
