What I learned Making Wrestling videos from 1993 to 2001

The first wrestling video I was asked to do was for BG West, the California part of BG. At the time I was 140 lbs and was told to gain weight and muscle and comeback. I started going to Muscle Beach in Venice, CA, been taking weight gaining shakes and lifting weights. A few months later I revisited the man who was hiring the guys for the videos and he said "I'd like you to do an oil wrestling video". I showed up and the other wrestler was HOT, had jet black hair and reminded me of a young Elvis. The name of the video was "Oil Wars 3". I believe the man shooting the video was named Bill, he told us to wrestle as hard as we could for dominance. I was given the name Craig (can't recall the last name they gave me). I remember submitting the guy and the director said "Now the speedos come off". I was fine with that because I knew that was part of the plan. However, after I submitted him again nude I was told "Now you top him". I said "What? I was never told this would happen". and I refused, in the other room was a porn guy named Taz who was my height and we had similar body types, so Taz did the sex part and it was filmed without showing his head or face. I remember being covered in baby oil from head to toe. I remember seeing that this video was on the internet years ago and saw photos from it, but I have never seen the video. I was then on Global Fight and had started talking with guys to set up wrestling matches, I wrestled a guy who I later became good friends with, he lived in San Francisco and said "You should do a video for BG East". I told him that I had done a video for BG West and he quickly informed me, "Don't tell BG East about having done a video for BG East". The think they had been business partners at one time. I was flown to San Francisco and was put up at a great loft with hot wrestlers arriving every hour, most every guy was on Global Fight or could be seen in the aol wrestling m4m room from that time. I was asked to pick a name for the video, off the top of my head I said "Kyle Bradford" and it stuck. I was brought over to a quiet, refined man sitting in a chair, he said hello to me and I realized he was Kid Leopard from BG East. Steve was very nice to me and told me the video series would be called "Frisco Fights" the video was to be me vs Joe Riker and we were to be collage guys wrestling. I explained that I only liked submission style but I liked using some pro moves, after the video was shot. Steve came over to me and said "You fight mean like Chip Slater, we should make you Kyle Slater, Chip's younger brother and you two can do tag teams". I explained that the stage name I was using for legit acting roles was Chad Slater, so I would like to keep Kyle Bradford. Then I was asked to do a nude wrestling video vs Chip Grant, at the time I was very into blond guys and Chip Grant was blond and sexy! Both videos were very fun to make and I was asked to not do any other wrestling videos for any other company but BG East. At this point I knew I loved wrestling and when you were put in a wrestling video you were paired with a wrestler, it was much easier than trying to find local wrestlers to wrestle and I would probably do more. I thanked Steve for the offer but said I wanted to wrestle for other companies like Ken Star Wrestling, NHB Battle and maybe Can-Am. those were the only two videos I did for BG East but it was an amazing experience. The process of them picking what the wrestlers would wear down to the photo shoot for the website was very interesting to see. When the videos started being released I started a website Kylebradford.com and soon began being contacted by Ken Star Wrestling which produced real submission wrestling videos male vs male and women vs women and they filmed in El Segundo, CA on mats. The name who shot the video was a HOT gym teacher type named Kent in his 30's, damn I was attracted to him! He said "I am a wrestler and need to wrestle you to see if you'd be a fit for the videos". We wrestled and I submitted him, he was a bodybuilder who weighed about 25 lbs more than me. I told Kent I liked the fact that his videos were real submission style and he set up a shoot date. I recall making a lot of videos for Ken Star but I never heard what happened to them over the years. I soon was contacted by NHB Battle out of New York City and was flown to NYC soon the weekends and did videos for them vs. Swage (twice), Patrick Donovan and Chuck "Tiger" Collins. I think one was named Rec Room Battles 6. When I wasn't shooting the videos I would wrestle guys from New York from Global Fight, it was a great time. One of my most favorite non video matches in New York was with Big A NYC (Adam) and he still wrestles today. At this point a new wrestling video company was formed called "Squared Circle Prods" and they were very high production values, the camera were the same used to film tv shows from that time, the lighting was excellent and thy built a ring in San Francisco where all the videos were shot. I was offered a contract with Squared Circle and was paid yearly to only wrestle for them. The video had professionally shot box covers and some of the names were "Give & Submit" and "Leather Meets the Mat". It was during this time I first heard the term promission being used because they were shot in a pro wrestling ring ad the fighting was real submission but mixed with gut punching and domination using the ring's ropes. I was compensated extremely well while making Squared Circle Productions and the videos were distributed worldwide and sold in gay video stores. After a few years I decided not to sign another exclusive contract with Squared Circle because I wanted to start producing my own videos and they were very professional and understood. By this point I had made many wrestling videos some nude, some not but always submission or promission and always real. I bought 12x12 wrestling mats and rented a place in Hollywood and found wrestlers from Global Fight and started Kyle Bradford Productions, the videos were sold through my website that had gotten huge because I had also started doing gay porn and doing gay plays like "Party", "From Shirley Temple to Aimee Semple", "Making Porn" and "Hollywood Uncovered". As the plays would travel from city to city, I would set up wrestling matches through Global Fight and was wrestling non stop. I produced a lot of wrestling video under my own company which I later sold to wreslemen.com in 2001. In 2000 Can-Am contacted me and offered me a co-production deal to make the first real submission video called "Make me Submit". They flew me to their studio in Toronto, Canada and told me I could pick any wrestler from their "stable". I recalled a wrestled named Jimmy Dean that I wanted to wrestle. I met him at Can-Am's ring and he said to me "So are you kicking the shit out of me? or am I kicking the shit out of you today". I said "it's real submission wrestling in the ring with real body shots, until one guy submits the other, the one with the most submissions wins and can verbally and physically dominate the other in wrestling moves. He said "What? I can't do that, I have only done pre arranged fake wrestling". So he left LOL! I soon discovered that most of the Can-Am guys were found at a Toronto strip club, had great bodies and faces but could not wrestle. One such guy was brought in an he and I wrestled but he had no idea what he was doing and looked too clumsy. I told the owner of Can-Am this is not working, so he suggested we go back to the Hollywood Can-Am studio and I would pick guys I knew that could wrestle. I contacted Shawn "Doc" Holiday and other guys I had wrestled and the video was shot in Hollywood. Now it's 2001 and that damn TC scandal happens and my world is turned upside down, for a while. I close down my website, sold the video I produced to Wretlemen.com and vowed never to make another wrestling video. While the tabloids were having a field day and people I once trusted and considered friends were selling fake stories for money, the press coined the name "erotic wrestler" when describing me and the videos I made. Wikipedia had a page on me and I made them take it down. During this time I was laying very low and waiting for the entire scandal to just go away. A guy I had wrestled from Santa Monica that worked in the entertainment industry contacted me and said a company called "On Top Wrestling" wanted to make me an offer, I refused at first but the offer was s good that I decided this would the last wrestling videos I would make. On Top Wrestling made very high quality wrestling DVD's all three were shot the same days in Hollywood and were real submission and pro mission and some were nude wrestling. Wow! That is my entire wrestling video history.

Frisco Fights 2 - the one where you wrestled Chip Grant - was the first BG video I ever saw and still one of the best. None of the matches they did came close to that battle.

Thank you for sharing memories. We hope you're in good health nowadays.

Please tell us more details about the matches for NHB.

You had quite some trash talk with Patrick. Was it real or more for entertainment?

You had no trouble dominating "Tiger".

How good was Swage? Is he still around? He seemed rather determined to defeat you in the second video but it didn't work that way (: Did you stay friends?

Who had the strongest scissors among these guys?

I never kn ew who I would be wrestling in the NHB Battle matches until I arrived and met the guy. The filming was done in an old NYC building with no working elevator so we walked up 37 flights of stairs. I loved that there really was no rules in the NHB Battle matches, just no ER visits. I recall Patrick being very tall and lean, I think he liked the idea of a smaller guy submitting him, but he was a tough competitor. Patrick and I did not talk much before or after the match or since LOL! The trash talking was always real, it was basically me getting pissed if I was losing or me trying to get the guy to fight harder if I was winning too easily. I have always enjoyed wrestling guys close to my size which is 5'8" 165 lbs. but I have wrestled much bigger guys. I will have to say there was just something very sexy about "Tiger" he was older, very masculine and loved to wrestle. Swage was very strong and he was someone who had survived in New York City on his own, which is not easy to do, he had street smarts and he danced with Madonna on stage at one time and was also a NY DJ. I have heard that Patrick Donovan and Tiger are still around but I have not heard from Swage in many years, the last time was when he contacted me on Facebook. Patrick has the strongest scissors of these guys.

Super that is an amazing summary of your life at that time,
I never heard about the TC issue until I got a PC I could use in private.
Its too bad that it ended your career. I also wondered why u did so few vids for NHB Battle, which was thefirst company I found. In that era they had a great assortmen of young wrestlers that I was hoping they would match up with u for real competitve wrestling. Some of your matches pop up on various sites but its all so disjointed and now you have set the record straight.

It's sad that the whole video era has mostly vanished. good luck pal, Jason

I was one of the lucky ones getting to wrestle you twice at your Hollywood pad. Damn hot and fun. Rematch needed.
