A quick thought about amatorial videos on WF

As much as I think Watchfighters is a nice feature, I really don't get why many of the videos come at a cost. I'm already skeptical about professional youtubers being paid (and a lot), but I think I understand why: as much as I don't find many of their contents interesting, there's a lot of work behind the camera to properly edit the video and have a polished final result.

The "for sale" section of WF is totally different, tho. Basically, people are having a fight, something that they like and that doesn't require anything really hard or complicated to be done, other than a partner; plus, they're not even editing the video or using a cameraman, most of the times, so you just have a private fight between two guys enjoying their free time.
I fail to see how this is worth paying for, as there is no effort involved, just static recording.

I disagree. I'm not going to click "thumbs down" to your post because your opinion is as valid as anyone else's. But I think Watchfighters is a good step forward, allowing videos which would not, in the terms of our membership, be allowed here on MF.

I'm not proud of this, but I like headscissors. I've found some great videos on Watchfighters - some paying, some not. And honestly, some have definitely been well filmed and carefully edited: they are NOT just random fights between the inexpert wrestlers you characterise with an eye to the main chance who have posted weak stuff, hoping to make a quick few ££ or $$. Take, for instance, Admin's "man of the moment", Big Alpha ... Or my own current favourite, Ikagura ... Worth paying for, I'd say.

And, for some people, maybe Watchfighters is a bit of a lifeline. I won't go into details but I have some young Brazilian friends, a sort of wrestling co-operative, who are jobless in the pandemic and using their Watchfighters revenue to pay their rent ... I don't resent that at all.

I still do. Your brazilian friend should be granted some assistance from brazilian institutions, not selling amatorial videos on the internet, it'd be way more dignifided; patching a hole with tissue paper won't do the trick.

I've seen the free bits from Big Alpha, those are just videos recorded with a decent camera and got some cut here and there. Do you seriously think that's worth paying for? I sense too much bias towards liberalism in such reasonings.

If you don't want to pay, don't. Pretty easy.

In fact I don't, but this doesn't mean I can't criticize the system, does it? I really don't understand why nowadays pretty much everything can come at a cost, even when there's no reasons for it.

I'll try to summarize your post: You are not committed enough to pay for the stuff, but sour enough to complain that you can't watch the stuff for free. Did I miss anything of value?

Yes, the point of the whole post.
I don't have any issues in not paying, I'll just enjoy the free stuff, and I said I like WF as a feature; I still fail to see why the kind of video I was talking about should be considered worth paying for.

I think the best, most succinct comment is by Goreckimusic2: if you don't want to pay, don't pay. I can't imagine anyone will have a great problem with that.

Over and out!
