Cup Check?

Did you guys do cup checks in wrestling? Or did you wear cups? I was a football player so I don't know.

Basically, I went to a high school with a prestigious football program, and it wasn't easy to get in. I spent jr. high in the hospital with cancer, and went into remission before high school. The football coach, wanting to help me, offered me a place on the football team. He made it clear I wouldn't play unless I got good, but he said that practicing and working out with the team would help me regain strength and confidence that I had lost. I hated being pitied. Everyone I had met the the past few years had been full of pity, and I didn't want that going into high school, so I accepted the coaches offer, but asked that he not tell the other players what I had been through. Most of the coaches and players were great, but there were some players that were resentful. they wondered, why is this weak chubby guy on the team when their friends who were good players hadn't made the rather elite cuts. One group of guys in particular hated me. They saw me as weak and not deserving of being on a team they worked so hard to be a part of. They began to haze me any chance they got, and in a wide variety of ways. I came to realize that if a coach wasn't watching, I would have to deal with these guys. I think their goal was to make things difficult enough on me that I would quit on my own, but I never did, and I never told the coaches.

One thing they would do is this. Wearing a cup was considered part of the uniform, and required of every player. If you came to practice missing any part of your uniform, including your cup, then you weren't allowed to practice with the team, but had to spend the whole practice running ladders. One day when suiting up for practice, I noticed my cup was missing from my locker. I told the coach I had lost it, and had to spend the whole practice running, which sucked, and didn't ever want to do that again. I told my mom and that night she bought me another cup.
A few days later, my cup was missing from my locker again. I didn't want to run again, so I didn't say anything.

We would start every practice with warm-ups and stretching. we would pair up with a partner for stretching, and at the end of every stretching session, the coach would yell out, "Cup Check" and the players would hit their partner in the cup to verify that they were wearing one. One of the guys who hated me made sure to team up with me for stretching, and when the cup check was called out, he hit me hard, knowing that I wasn't wearing one. I couldn't react or the coach would know I wasn't wearing one, so I just had to take it, and damn it hurt.

I didn't want to tell my mom I had lost another cup, so I just took getting hit in the balls day after day. I bought another cup when I had the chance, but it too disappeared. I found an old gross cup laying in the back corner of the equipment room, and wore it once, but one of them saw me find it and put it on. they held me down as one of them ripped it off me and put it over me head making me breath through it. I started keeping my cup in my backpack, but the guys stole that while I was in the showers. Finally I gave up and just took the hits.

So basically I spent every day starting off practice with getting nailed in the nuts by one of that group of guys. There were lots of other things they did as well, they loved to give me the stinkface any chance they got, as well as other things. It's no wonder I ended up becoming friends with a dominant wrestler who was also into cbt and facesitting.

Anyone else have any similar experiences?
