So long as the hits are navel level or around there. you can relax and let them sink in without risk, especially in any kind of glove, (MMA to boxing type) The guts will just slide around inside and the muscle will stretch. It's when trying to take a session totally flexed that I'll have a hard time doing a sit-up for days later. I find its a lit easier to do this while blindfolded. Your puncher can see you relax and know when to throw that punch that'll double you over.

Those shots can really get a good ooof out of me if I relax when I take them. It's hard to find someone who can really deliver those unless they've had real boxing training. It's also better if they're about a half-head shorter than the receiver so they have the right angle to put the power into an uppercut like that. A puncher like that is rare to find but I'm always looking.
I agree totally. I was telling a friend a day or 2 ago before I read your comnent, that I love an uppercut belly blaster in which you can feel his fist in your esophagus. It not only jars your belly but your entire chest, sending your stomach up into your throat. In the martial art I practice there are a lot of uppercuts. I like to think I am reasonably proficient at it. And your right: a shorter guy can deliver them more naturally. Or, as in my case, you can bend over something backward and take gut shots. I don't know many people shorter than me. Or you can deliver uppercuts from a low or horse stance.
I hear you. But I practice holding a low horse and my core and legs are pretty strong and flexible. I bet I can get a few uppercuts in with my body behind it sideways. I know you can push a person on their butt when they're in a horse stance facing you, but from the side it's a solid stance and I can shift easily and stay low from other stances. It would be fun to try, but you'd have to return the favor and belly blast my stomach into my nostrils. ;)
Below the naval can feel like a bladder shot, which isn't at all a turn on. Just above the naval is perfect. Although it's deep and achy there, it feels like I could take the most punches there.
Yes guy waited till I wasn’t paying attention and hit me with a good solid shot right in the center of my gut. It did hurt but I played like I barely felt it and I know that ate at his ego more than anything.
