i want to try a few rib shots but controlled.
but if i am fighting another person then its best you make it clear before the match what your limits are.

I think you took some when we met a few years back - you are quite tough!

Controlled rib shots are tolerable and actually kinda fun to take. But my puncher has to have good control of his punches. Had a dude work me over and started using knees. He got a little out of control with those bad boys and I got two cracked ribs out of the deal. No laughing matter. Seriously, no laughing if you've had cracked ribs you understand.

taking to the pecs when there is some meat there is super hot, you feel the shots for like a week after. its not bruised, just sore. you do feel beat up.
also note, no one punches to the chest in boxing.

I might accept a few gloved light shots but nothing heavy in the ribs.
No been whacked hard in my ribs back in my martial arts days, buggers you up for weeks, also got to consider the safety side of things. I am happy to take lots in my abs and even let them go deep as although it will hurt a lot I find it pleasurable espeically if worn down. But ribs does not do anything for me and its not something you can improve on either as far as strength and endurance goes.

I agree with Zander. I did take rib shots in one scene and indeed it did "bugger me up for weeks" — not a good thing. I share Zander's desire: "to take lots in my abs and even let them go deep as although it will hurt a lot I find it pleasurable espeically if worn down." Like solar, I do not want bruised ribs but I do want to feel beat up.

It's just a matter of personal preference, I always like taking rib shots, and chest/pec hits too. But I've worked out with plenty of guys who didn't like them. When you're the giver the main goal is a good experience for the receiver, so whatever he wants/doesn't want takes priority. Of course, I expect the same consideration when it's my turn to receive.

Hate bruised ribs! Has happened twice in gutpunching sessions and, for me, a bruised rib often takes 6-8 weeks to fully heal. The abs heal much more quickly. As fighterboyy said, gutpuncing is not the same as boxing. I hate boxing. I love gutpunching!

I totally agree with the guys above.. Rib shots are a big NO with me although I like my GUTpunching as intense as possible. I've had ribs broken three times from wrestling/fighting and the last time it took three months before I could bench again. If I'm standing there open and a guy goes for my ribs I'm going to be majorly pissed!

I would say no. I'd like to hit fat and flesh, not bone.

No ribs. I'm very big on no ribs-I won't hit anyone's nor permit mine to be hit. I understand accidents can happen in sloppier cases but it's a whole different ballgame for me.

I was curious, not that's it's "legal" as to how many of you guys also go for the ribs when attacking a guy's gut. Nothing hotter to me than to see a guy in pain from bruised or broken ribs especially after his gut has been worked.

A rib shot is not off limits in boxing, so why not. Usually done by a right or left hook to the floating ribs, but a punch near the armpit is usually a ko or at least staggers the boxer

Gutpunching is not the same as boxing is it? Granted that I'm very bad at it, but it is my understanding that in boxing you are supposed to defend. :)

I don't like rib shots either. A bruised rib takes a week to heal, whereas my abs are good as new the next day (or two).
