If you like long held headlocks, check out this match. At around the 9:20 mark, Oliver John puts a headlock on Timothy Thatcher and keeps it locked on for over six minutes!
If you want to maintain that headlock while standing then you need to work him into a corner of some type, the room corner, the ring corner. Pull and hold his head in really tight and really crank on it why you twist with your shoulders. Every so often release your lower hand from the headlock turn it into a fist and drive it right into the base part of the neck or upper part of the chest just to knock the wind out of him a little bit. This is how a really great old heel friend would keep me in the hold.

Grinding it tighter with rotation and walking your opponent around the ring can add to the fun.
