That sounds like a blood choke rather than a suffocation. It's pretty easy even if your not to strong. We used to do this as kids 11-13. One guy would hyperventilate about 10 good breaths, then he holds the last breath. The second guy bearhugs him from behind as he continues to hold his breath.
