I'd never be so pretentious to say a priori how a match I would have with someone would turn out. Similarly, I hold confidential the results of a match unless both parties agree for release of that information.

At 65, I found myself overweight; 176 lbs with a 36" waist; lethargic,
and semi-crippled by severe leg and back pains as a result of spinal stenosis. So, I decided to start working out again. After nearly 18 months (and turning 67) I'm maintaining my body weight at 150 lbs, with a 32" waist. I'm stronger than I've been in years and definitely more active these days! We all age differently, but athletic people keep fit! So ageism against seniors without meeting them in person makes very little sense! While I may not be a trained boxer, I enjoy weight training, gloving up for bag work, mitt work, and light sparring with those near my own height & weight! Keep Punching!

If it is hard-core sparring I would be concerned about a guy's weight when it comes to boxing. But if it is only light sparring, I wouldn't care the least if a guy were 25, 50, or more heavier (or lighter). Just as when wrestling a guy much lighter than I am, I tame down the intensity and how much of my weight I put against or on top of the guy.

Because of my age, damn few guys will meet up with me – a good reason to be very accommodating to anyone who is willing to meet up with me. I try to go easy on them as well, as it can be embarrassing as hell itself when a 20, 30, or even 40 something is taken down by a guy my age – don't want to rub it in too much. Some have even requested I don't go public with the fact they wrestled me; and I respect their feelings there.

Only a number, yes; but too many lend too much credence that the higher the number, the lower the person's strength, skill, flexibility, and [let's be real about most everything on the Internet] sexuality. I was doing moderately well finding wrestling/grappling mates – UNTIL – going from 75 onto 76. It's as though that number is a real demarcation, as abrupt as flipping a circuit breaker to OFF – only one encounter in the past month. Had to go lighter for the past few months due to non-age-related surgery; but still a very viable opponent – per my recommendations. I am here with zeal and zest.

I do agree, age is only a number. While I do have some limitations flexibility wise and other issues I take classes and roll with all ages in BJJ classes and open mat sessions. The only noticeable difference is that I pay less for my transit pass ()due being a senior to get to the gym and university for the BJJ sessions. If any memebrs senior or otherwise visit San Diego and want to participate glad to fill u in on ehte free open mat sessions open to all. By the way, a car is NOT neede din San Diego.

Age is only a number. You have too keep the body in some sort of shape. Know your limits of course but have fun. Some people hunt, fish, play golf. Etc. I love wrestling and boxing 68 is may or may it be old. But, I'm not Dow for the count yet.
