No. It’s just a way of showing an opponent who’s boss or simply being rough with him hah hah! If anything, the slight looseness shaking him around creates will lessen the effectiveness of the choke. But hey….it’s fun!
I would say no. And agree with the other comments that shaking the head is just for show and could increase the risk of injury. A real sleeper hold works by constrictting the flow of blood through the caroted (sp?) arteries and shaking the head would serve no purpose.
I only know shaking as a way to loosen the opponent's e.g. grip when fighting over a hold ("give me that arm!"). But I don't see how it could make a sleeper work faster. You'd be effectively soften/loosen the choke that is meant to be as tight as possible. As the others wrote...it might even increase danger of injury.
But if it's this particular fantasy that gets you going...have a good warm-up on your neck (and maybe shoulders + upper back) and enjoy the shaking. :)
Makes the sleeper less effective because it becomes less precise. It may facilitate entry for hand strangling, but that's a very different type of choke. For the most part it is pro wrestling BS. If done too vigorously it can cause neck injury such as whiplash, so in general it's a really bad idea.
Shaking the head and moving it from side to side is just an antic of the "pros" for appearance sake. In reality it takes seconds to put a guy out. If the guy applying it flexes it can work faster as this increases the pressure and restricts the flood flow faster. Also putting the other arm behind the neck works better as well as it is tighter that way. Putting the other hand on top is for show by the "pros" but in reality if done that way it can be pulled off much easier in defending against the choke. Watch UFC or no gi BJJ for the best real applications of the sleeper rather than the staged "pro wrestling" for the best application of the hold.
Some time ago I had guys at my gym to sleeper me by shaking my head as they put on the rear choke. I was so confused and disoriented I couldn't do anything before it was too late. It had to be moderately fast to work. Ever since I kept thinking about it and looking for more guys to sleeper me out that way. I'd like to hear what the experience of others has been,

Oh man, you need too! There's an amazing rush when you are on the edge of both. It intensifies the orgasm.

Are there any other ways to make the sleeper go faster? I'd be interested to know.
