Tactical Counters or Blocks?

Best that I could find, from a wrestling-drill textbook:

"After mastering the spladdle (sic), the wrestlers realize the importance of immediately standing up when executing a single-leg to avoid being spladdled (sic)"

Spladdle pt1

So, "immediately standing up." They don't actually show the counter, though, just the "spladdle" that unfolds (or, ummm, folds) when the bottom wrestler doesn't stand.

A question for you technicians out there. Everybody knows the guy going for the single-leg is pretty much toast once he gives up his back and his opponent goes for that spladle. Usually the saying goes that the best counter for a spladle is "Don't Get Caught In One!" lol

Are there any effective blocks or counters BEFORE the opponent gets behind the guy going for the single leg takedown?
