Thanks for posting the escapes. I have tried some of these but due a replacement hip I have a lot of trouble escaping from mount. Often my opponent will move up and put the knees in my armpit blocking some of these.attempts. The only thing that ever seems to work is a combination of the above to get in to half guard by squirming through and then going for the lockdown. As my hip motion improves (though it wll not get much better than it is now 10 months since surgery) will try to enhance on the above which I thank you very much for posting.

In my experience it is almost impossible to make a full escape from mount without getting stuck in half-guard, unless your opponent is unskilled or you're strong enough relative to their weight to make a tremendous amount of space.
So, even with good, strong hips, my experience is get to half guard (where they're going to do some variation of the lockdown or try to transition to side mount), and work from there. I like to go to deep half; I'll almost always get a reversal and often a pass from there.

Note the position of my hands and elbows. This will help you keep your opponent low - on your hips, so that you can buck when needed.

7/21/2015 2:09 PMThanks! Even though I am tall, I seem to have to end up wrestling the bigger boys. Will give this a go. What I also need now is advice on how to wrestler smaller guys - the smaller guys always seem to win!

7/02/2015 12:42 PMBeing that I am around 70kg, I frequently end up fighting bigger guys. I'm always happy to find techniques and escapes that work even if you cannot use physical strength to overpower your opponent.
Here's one I found that works well, I couldn't really do the part beyond the half-guard, but hey, the half guard is a huge step up from the mount.

This is really good as ending up in the half guard is fine for me as due my limited hip mobility am actually more comfortable in half guard than full guard anyway. This technique being attempted gives one a chance who might have difficulty in regular shrimping. Thanks for posting.
