Banana Split as a Submission Hold

I got this from half guard bottom, where I had control of the far leg, and he was attempting an Americana on me despite not having control of one of his own legs/hips. When he overcommitted to the Americana, I was able to catch the other leg with my free hand, and then keep the split just enough to compromise his base, roll him over, and get a top position. This opponent didn't take this threat seriously and ended up tapping to it. Most of the time, I use the banana split from half guard as a sweep and I'm not looking for a submission, just an escape from bottom and a better position.

Hahah
There are MANY variations on SPLADLE or BANANASPLIT , and because most of you don't do the Splits and train ur Hips.... it will be very painful . Mostly because I use a method that will dislocate you hips.

You'll literally cry and only I know how to pop it back in. So Bring it

Love this hold. Very painful when locked in.
Best when the guy in it is tough wrestler who can take a lot of pain and won't tap out so fast

I have a bud I wrestle that I could use this on and would give me an advantage. If you have time could you detail a bit on how to approach doing this hold? Unsure about where body positions are when initiating. Or maybe you have a link I could go to.
Thanks guy

This move can catch you by surprise.

Watch out for getting one of your legs trapped, while your opponent grabs your other leg.

I can be applied by the top man, with little difficulty, from the referee position.

Most younger wrestlers do NOT use their legs well while wrestling.

Many wrestlers could improve a lot by using their legs more.

The surprising thing about the Banana Split, (also called split scissors, I think) is that your arms are generally free, but of little help.

I was caught in this situation by surprise. My opponent was behind me with both legs around one of mine and both arms around my other leg. All he had to do was pull my legs apart, like breaking a wishbone. My arms were free, but useless, since I could not reach his arms or legs.

After I recognized my situation, I was helpless.

My opponent could pull my legs apart, stretching me to the limit.

When I reached my pain threshold, all I could do was pin myself.

Trying to visualize this. Could you give more details on body position if you and opponent?
Thanks.

Usually, the victim is on his back with the opponent's body perpendicular and near the victims butt.

This allows easy access to both of the victim's legs.

Sometimes this move can be applied to the bottom man from the referee position, since both of the victim's legs are accessible.

Trapping one leg is usually a good start.

Sometimes you can watch a match and see this situation developing, but for the victim, it may be too late.

No standard escape.
