I'm not only flattered but honored that Coach has used me to illustrate some of his training methods. This man waited patiently for me to recover from a rather serious injury 10 months ago & in a few months, with his knowledge, training & guidance, took me to levels of conditioning that I never reached before with regard to my core- I can honestly say that my gut is as hard as anyone on this site despite their age (unless one is a trained fighter & even then, I kinda think my core condition is on par with them). And the best part is that we both know that with his continued training, I will only get harder, tuffer, thicker- I look forward to it Coach & am extremely appreciative of what U have done for and to this guy!

I'm presently training three members of this site and using the “Forced Core Workout Method " See if you are man enough to try it. I train Warriors and Gladiators and this is one of 7 different concepts I use.
1. I use the BOSU (see my prior comments on the usefulness of the BOSU) “Both Sides Up”,
I believe in weighted routines. Weight routines thicken and harden muscle.
2. I believe that we need to build a foundation of muscle before we construct the building.
3. I use American College of Sports Medicine guidelines and Tutorial trainers whose work follows nationally accepted standards for being safe.
4. I monitor progress and we set realistic and achievable goals
Example of what I'm doing with an advanced member, Pwers1103
100 weighted V Ups with a 2.5 pound ankle weight on each ankle and a 10 pound plate under the chin. Rest 2 minutes, 100 more, rest 2 minutes, 100 more. He did this 3 times at 300 a pop, one day last week.
35 Bridges
100 right and left oblique crunches, on each side (10 pound plate under the arm) 35 more bridges, followed by weighted crunches on the BOSU to failure. Rest 2 minutes, more weighted crunches to failure, rest 2 minutes, weighted leg raises to failure, minimum 1 minute each, we do this until his muscles are completely fatigued. The reason we do this, is that in order to promote muscle growth, there must be muscle destruction. We wait two days before we do it again, giving the muscle a chance to grow back stronger and harder. Having a boxing and kickboxing background, I train members this way in order to condition their core properly for matches. As a wrestler you have to be able to control your opponent with your body. Everything you do is CORE. Abs and Back working together.
I also believe in forced IMPACT training using 10 and 22 pound two handled medicine balls. I did this as a Golden Gloves boxer many years ago. ( More on that in another post ) This is all about having a Hard Core. This is one of many forced training methods that I use with members here and at my own gym.
