No trainer or trainee fans joining in the dip challenge - Solomon 79 and I seem to be the only ones going at it legit....

Make a vid, take a shot at us. Just do them deep and clean!

Many of us like the idea of forced workouts, the entire macho bit, the struggle, the idea that our body (or someone's)is being push right to the limit of failure – and will then rise, stronger than before.

But too often its just a fantasy.

Well, the pushup challenge has taken me to places i have not been before. I just plain refuse to lose; and this meant working through fatigue, nudging total muscle failure off just long enough to complete 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 110 reps - and policed reps where we rejected partial reps (partials are vastly easier, even though they are a legitimate way to build strength once you are at failure). Dont know what i mean? Watch the videos - they'r eon my profile, and on Solomon 79s ( and some others too).

I began to realize that half of failure is mental. Can a do another? So far, no matter what, HELL YEA! Do i want to ? Hell no! Except i had to. And that was hot.

I've also felt results that i would not imagine from bodyweight exercises. No real pain, but a level of fatigue and "light soreness" that just screams "building muscle, our of my way". Which is a nice feeling to have.

I've decided to incorporate training to failure into other exercises during this lockdown period. I cant raise the weight, but i can increase the reps and go to the point where the muscles are clearly taxed. So now i do at least one set of dips, pull ups and some others to the point of real failure.

So what do ai mean by failure? Well, in the last pushup challenge there was a real danger that my triceps might just give out and put my face on that nice, clear cement floor. Not likely, but it was a real danger. That's what i mean by failure.

So dont ask "how many reps can i do?". Just go until you cant; do another. Good, now you have your answer :-)

Now, after this lockdown ends I', looking for some guys who want to do this F2F. THAT would be motivational, and hot.

I volunteer as tribute! ✋
I like this post! I was worried after the lockdown that I would lose mass without access to my local gym and heavy weights but I agree, you can still get incredible results increasing reps with simple body weight exercises like a push if done to failure. Looking forward to the dip challenge coach! I'll try to push you to your limits on this one too ✌️😉

I'll follow up to my on post :-)

Here' sa greta video from Jeff C.,
1. advocating training to failure
2. discussing types of failures
3. demonstrating

Two notes for viewers:

1. watch to the end where he basically says "no failure? You're just putting in time" and
2. watch ~ 2:36 at his crazy biceps pump! Me. Want. Those.
