Introducing: Improved Profile verification

Picture verification was first introduced to MeetFighters in January 2017. It received a bunch of updates, but ultimately stayed the same system.
It is one of our many steps we take at MeetFighters to keep fakers out and help you find genuine verified profiles.

With the advances of technology, this 8-year-old system reached its challenges - even for a relatively small site like ours - the criminal energy put into it by some members (or should we say, ex-members) was surprisingly high.

To counter that, we developed video verification, which replaces our picture verification, setting the bar of required criminal energy significantly higher to fake your identity.

Our dedication to your privacy

We also decided to build this system from the ground up locally on our server and not use existing 3rd party services, which harvest more data than necessary and might provide it to third parties. Instead, our solution is built in-house and only stored on our local server (following some of the strongest data protection regulations available in the European GDPR act). And we only ask and store information necessary to approve or reject your verification attempt. Of course, the data is not shared or sold.

Because we build the system completely in-house, it might not be as polished and smooth as the one from mega corporations and might even include some bugs or glitches with certain browser versions or cameras. If you stumble over such issues, please let us know so we can fix it as soon as possible, just as we did with our original picture verification system.

Despite the new name, video verification, the end result won't change. After a successful verification, your chosen picture becomes the green tick, which cascades up, making your profile verified.

Free contributor status for 30 days!

As a bonus, each member who uses the new verification for the first time (even if you are already verified!) will receive a 30-day Bronze contribution status for free. (For members who have already contributed, your contribution status will be extended by 30 days too) - I know many might think that sounds like we want to harvest your data, but in fact, we just want to get as many users as possible to use the system so we can monitor and polish our integration. And of course, we want to stay an honest site with real people; a high-quality user base is easily worth 30 days of possible missed earnings.
