MeetFighters News

The poll for what should happen with the "mild" moderation category has closed and the votes are in:

  • 549 votes for leaving it as it is
  • 312 votes for merging it with the "clean" category
  • 80 votes for merging it with the "xxx" category.
  • Also, 31 suggested that we eliminate the need for photos altogether. Better luck next time! ;)

Another interesting statistic is to add up the number of past opponents for the voters in each category. In this strange form of "weighted democracy" we get:

  • 4646 votes for "Leave it as it is."
  • 2213 votes for "Merge it with the "clean" category."
  • 605 votes for "Merge it with the "sexual content" category."
  • Finally 110 votes for "I disagree with requiring photos in exchange for full access to site features."

So, yeah, the "mild" category is here to stay. So say we all! (Actually, so say we most.)

After reviewing the results,

I started thinking about how I can make the moderation process a little bit easier for both the moderators and the photo uploaders. The poll validated my moderation categories (most voters agreed with what we have), but I still had this feeling that the process was too difficult.

What I have came up with is similar to the existing system in mechanic, but different in look and feel. Each moderation category now has a bunch of small pictures that serve as templates. For example, here's the "face sitting" pic:

To view this, and all the other drawings, check out the new Photo Moderation page. (The "Suggestive pose" drawing is my personal favorite. :)

How does this help the moderators? It now gives them a menu to choose from when moderating a photo. The menu is in order of precedence, so it is now clearer when one has to choose between "mild" (e.g. undies shot) and "gallery" (only the waist is visible); in this case the "gallery" wins because it has higher precedence.

Also, the new moderation page shows the photos larger than before, making moderation easier and more fun.

How does this help the owners of the photos? They (hopefully) get more timely and consistent moderation. Also, they get some indication about the reason for the moderation their photos receive (e.g. "your photo was placed in the gallery because it only shows you from the waist down, please upload a more complete picture").

Let's see how this works out...

Important! Please read and vote!

Dear members,

I am thinking about ways of streamlining the photo moderation process. There are some things I'm planning to do, this includes clarification of the existing categories, as well as examples for each type of moderation.

One of the things I'm considering is eliminating the "mild" photo category. The mild category is, presently, for photos in underwear, speedos, lycra, and in general for photos that are not really X-rated, but are just a bit too "sexy".

At this time, mild photos are handled exactly like "clean" photos, with one exception: they are hidden from unregistered visitors. This is a small benefit, and one that I considered for a long time to be important. On the other hand, mostly due to the many shades of gray between "clean" and "sexual" content, the distinction between clean and mild made moderation harder, and as a consequence, slower and less consistent.

There are basically three things that can be done:

  • Merge the "mild" and "clean" categories. This might seem like a small change (after all, mild photos behave almost like clean photos, right?), but it is a big philosophical departure from the original roots of AllFighters. The original idea was a fighting personals site. Going this part deviates from the original path in favor of a fighting and dating site.

  • Merge the "mild" and "xxx" categories. This is a return to the site's original notion. It will affect a bunch of members, though: about 1/4 of all photos are "mild", these photos will disappear overnight.

  • Leave things as they are. After all, we have lived with the "mild" category for a while now.

Please consider carefully, and vote. As always, your comments are welcome.

What should happen with the "mild" photo category?

This poll is closed.

Dear members,

Since our start, the Terms of Service has never changed much. The site, and our membership has, which has prompted me to update the site rules.

Please read them carefully!

The following rules have been removed:

  • Please avoid uploading shocking, naked, sexually explicit or scandalous photos or text. It is no longer forbidden to upload these photos, although they will not appear on your profile.
  • Please avoid being off-topic (e.g. politics). This has not been much of a problem, so I felt it wasn't necessary to put in the TOS.
  • Our server is in Hungary. You have to obey laws and regulations of the Republic of Hungary, and that of your home country. The server is no longer located in Hungary, and enforcing local laws is outside the scope of a site TOS anyway.

The following rule has been modified:

  • The rule about hostile behavior has been clarified with the following sentence: "The only exception to this rule is setting "abuse flags", any other form of personal attack or harrassment is forbidden."

The following rules have been added:

  • You may have only one profile. Using multiple profiles is forbidden.
  • Marking people you have not met as "past opponents", or writing recommendations for them is forbidden.

These new rules serve an important role in eliminating sockpuppets and fake past opponents.

If you no longer agree to the new terms of service, please discontinue using the site.

Edit: Thank you everyone for responding! It's cool to have your support. :) Enjoy the site!

I have managed to fix a bunch of entries from the Suggestion Box this week:

I have also closed some unpopular old entries that didn't seem relevant anymore. All in all, about half of the suggestion box entries are gone, so submit your new ideas! :)

I am currently working on a Mobile (lightweight) version of the site.
